Sort a view by choosing a column and a direction. You can sort by when entries were created or last updated, or by any searchable field that allows ordering; by default, the most recently updated entries come first. A saved view does not keep its sort, so set it again after opening the view.

Requirements

Access to the collection.
The field you want to sort by is searchable and allows ordering. See below.

Steps

Open the view. A view is a saved way of looking at a collection's entries.
Choose what to sort by. A brokerage's listings view might sort by asking price, a staffing firm's candidates view by availability date.
Choose the direction. Ascending puts the lowest or earliest first; descending puts the highest or latest first.

What you can sort by

Created date and updated date, on every collection. Without a chosen sort, the view shows the most recently updated entries first.
Your own fields, when the field is searchable and allows ordering. Number, price, and currency fields have an ordering setting; turn it on in the field's settings. See Add or change a field.
Parts of a group field, such as the city inside an address or the number inside a phone, where the field holds several items.

How values are ordered

Numbers and prices sort as numbers, so 9 comes before 100.
Dates sort as dates.
Text sorts alphabetically.
Empty values always go last, whichever direction you choose.
For a group field with several items, such as a contact with two addresses, ascending uses the smallest of them and descending the largest.

Notes and limitations

A saved view keeps its name, columns, and filters, but not its sort. Set the sort each time you open it, or rely on the default order.
A field that is not searchable, or not set to allow ordering, cannot be sorted on.
Country and timezone inside an address or phone cannot be sorted on.
